The Prices for new automobiles in Mexico are outrageously high by any standard. In relation to Canada and the US prices are, on average, approximately 25% higher for a Mexican Consumer than for either a Canadian or American Consumer. This for a broad spectrum of vehicles including vehicles manufactured in Mexico.

We have taken the list of most popular (best selling) vehicles in Mexico and from that list have identified 30 vehicles that are sold, in very similar or exact configurations, in all 3 countries. 12 of these vehicles are manufactured in Mexico.

We compared apples to apples. The Prices we have used are Tax included Prices - the amount a consumer pays for the same vehicle in their respective country. We have converted the Canadian and US Prices to MXN (Pesos). Attached is a list of the 30 very similar or exact comparables. Also attached is the list of the "made in Mexico" vehicles - these taken from the same list - just shown separately for emphasis.

Also attached is a graph showing the Price trajectory of these vehicles in each country over the past 5 years.

Further to all this is that the Mexican Peso (MXN) has strengthened dramatically during this time - from approximately 21 Pesos to $1.00 USD to now 16.75 (the rate this morning on XE.COM) to $1.00 USD. This approximate 20% strengthening should mean vehicles became 20% cheaper in Mexico. This is because the default pricing for vehicles is the USD. Today the Mexican Peso buys 20% more than it did at any period 3 to 5 years ago.

This is an evil outrage! We do not know why it has happened. We do not know how this has happened. What is absolute is that it has happened.

AMLO: How did this happen on your watch?

Other Politicians: Why have you stood idly by?

Auto Manufacturers: Why did you do this?

News Organizations: Why have you not previously told this story?

We have prepared this website available to the entire Mexican population, and the world.

Why? Why? Why?

 * I am a Canadian who has business interests in Mexico. I am not fluent in Spanish. I love Mexico and have called it the Land of Opportunity. I have strong feelings for the many terrible situations in Mexico and have always wanted to make Mexico a better place. I have told my colleagues in Mexico "you can make a difference". I decided this was an opportunity to practice what I preach.
